Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
These verses are powerful and pertinent verses to us as busy women! Oh how time flies! So many times we get so busy and distracted that we allow our circumstances to control us. This post is for me just as much as anybody. We are all in the same crazy, hectic, rocking boat so often, it's just that some admit it and others don't. I have recently realized that I am a professional at “Mhhhhmmmm, really, wow, seriously, cool”. You know what I mean, when your kids (or husband) talk, you hear them but you are not really listening, then you wonder what they were talking about but you missed it.
Lord forgive me and help me...I have realized that time really does fly. It seems like only yesterday that my oldest daughter was born but she has now officially grown out of her booster seat this week and stopped sleeping with her teddy bear. Maybe your oldest is now heading to college or getting married. Time flies but we can't look at our past mistakes or failures. We can only do something about our future. Although we may be super busy, we can still be a friend to the friendless, or a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. We can be thankful instead of ungrateful or caring instead of careless. We can still show love even when someone may seem unlovable. More importantly, how are we spending our time with Jesus. Do we pray like we should? The Bible says in I Cor. 7:14 - “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” I truly believe that we are so close to the coming of Jesus Christ that we must be ready. Look around at how the world is changing. Most of us have heard it all of our lives but now the signs are right in front of us! In just a “blink” our time here on earth will be over. Will we look back and wish we had of spent our time differently? Have you accepted Jesus as your Savior? If not, I pray you will not pass up this opportunity today. I guarantee you won't be the mother or wife you should be until He is number one in your life. Here is a reality check from one of my favorite songs by a Christian group called Revive called “Blink”:
