These verses are powerful and pertinent verses to us as busy women! Oh how time flies! So many times we get so busy and distracted that we allow our circumstances to control us. This post is for me just as much as anybody. We are all in the same crazy, hectic, rocking boat so often, it's just that some admit it and others don't. I have recently realized that I am a professional at “Mhhhhmmmm, really, wow, seriously, cool”.You know what I mean, when your kids (or husband) talk, you hear them but you are not really listening, then you wonder what they were talking about but you missed it.
"And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you."—Psalm 9:10
and
"David encouraged himself in the Lord his God." - I Samuel 30:6
As you know, this site is not just about coupons but it is a place of hope and encouragement for women. For some reason I just believe that someone needs to hear this. There was a time in my life that I was in such a valley of depression. I was at my lowest point. I received an email from a lady at our church and she said that she and a friend were going to sing a song at church and they had wanted me to sing it with them. At the state of mind I was in I thought "I am too depressed to sing and I know I don't have any business doing anything for the Lord right now". Shame on me for thinking that, but she sent me a copy of the song to listen to and when I heard it, all I could do was cry and thank the Lord that He had not forgotten me. For nearly a week straight I listened to this song over and over again. I even took naps with it playing on repeat. This song, along with a lot of prayer and reading the Bible, helped me to get through such a depressing time in my life, and as David did, I had to encourage myself in the Lord. If that song was for no one else in church that Sunday, I know it was for me and God had not forgotten me. Whatever you may be going through in your life, whether it is sickness, family troubles, finances or whatever it may be, you have to believe, as this song says, and trust in the Lord and seek His face and He will not forget about you. Whatever the mountain may be in your life, He is able to move it but we have to believe! You may be in a situation that you don't understand or don't even like but God knows why and His plans are not ours, and His ways our much higher than ours and He has the top to the puzzle box when all we see is a tiny piece. We are all important in His eyes and He loves each and every one of us. If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior then I pray that you will seek Him today and invite Him into your heart because life can be cruel and I couldn't imagine facing it without Him. He is my only hope and He can be yours too. I hope you enjoy this song. It is not the best version of it because it was recorded live, so you may want to try the facebook version as it is really clear.
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,"
Colossians 3:23
This verse was heavy on my heart today as I thought about the life of a mother. So many times we get frustrated because we go go go all day and feel like no one appreciates anything we do. I know how it feels when you feel like your day has flown by and you have crossed off 15 things on your "to do" list only to realize that you still have 15 more things that did not get done. Not to mention that those close to you only noticed what you did not do. It is so easy to feel like giving up. We begin to have what my dad used to say, a "pity party". As mothers, we give all day for our children taking them here and there and making sure they are taken care of and we want the best for them. We try to clean the house and cook and be the super mom that we think we should be. Then when no one appreciates us we feel like "what is the point?" Reality check…did you expect your kids or your husband to say "thank you" or "good job"? Maybe it slipped their mind or maybe they too have a lot going on. When our focus turns from pleasing the Lord to pleasing men, we can quickly get a bad attitude and when the family does not notice your hard work, they will definitely notice your bad attitude. This scripture tells us that we should not work to get recognition from people but we should do our best, with all of heart because we want to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I think we sometimes forget about this verse and we can let the stresses of life and the cares of this world really get us down. When we give 100% for no one but the Lord, it makes a huge difference in our attitude. I try to teach my kids that they should please the Lord in everything they do. When they learn this, they will in turn please you, their teachers and those that God has put over them throughout their lives. When we work as unto the Lord, it will change our attitude about life. As moms we need to make sure our mind set is on pleasing the Lord and when no one notices just how hard you work, just remember, God notices and that is really all that matters.
Matthew 24:45-47 "Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods."
I want The Coupon Clipping Nut to be a place where you leave feeling encouraged and strengthened. I hope that this verse today is an encouragement for you not to give up when times are tough but to keep up your hard work and keep being faithful in what you have to do. For some of us that means working a full time job, maybe even two jobs only to find when you get home a load of dishes in the sink, loads of laundry to fold, dinner to cook and time that you desperately want to get in with your family without snapping at them. For some of us it may be working at home all day, and believe me, it is the equivalence of two full time jobs, only to find that your day has flown by and there are still dishes in the sink, loads of laundry and dinner to cook and you feel like a failure because it is not all finished. Believe me, you are not a failure and you are not alone either. You are very valuable and important and your family not only depends on you but they do love you. Keep on keeping on, even when it seems so easy to give up because when we are faithful in the few things in life, then God will bless you for it. Be encouraged today!
